Rhyming in a style of broken-English known as Pidgin across Africa and its diaspora abroad, the youngsters would battle one another with lyrics, beats, flows and dance. When a winner emerged, the battle continued to the next neighborhood to test the skills of all who were willing to participate.
Teekay fell in love for the first time with hip-hop in the late eighties, when he saw a Sugar Hill Gang music video, ‘Rappers delight’…

Under the guidance of Scott, a pioneer of good music, he became a member of the ‘Poetic Leaders’. Teekay Da Newborn penetrated the rap industry through talent competitions and live performances at various venues. He honed his talent through acting on his insatiable desire to rhyme. Performing everywhere from poetry bars, to beat bars to cipher's in his neighborhood. His boundless talent is constantly expanding. And his confidence is contagious. Rapping in Yoruba, Pidgin and English, Teekay is a renaissance Emcee, not to mention a beatsmith, entrepreneur. And as he acts on his destiny, so it unfolds. In 2002, to escape the poverty that seemed to dawdle over the African countries, especially Nigeria, Teekay Da Newborn moved to the republic of Ireland, where he met his partner in rhythm, #Ashman…
