The most complete review of 2010

The year 2010 was a very memorable one for Nigerian music and without much preamble The Future Awards Nominated and extremely insightful writer/journalist Chilee Agunanna presents 101 of the most notable musical events, occurrences and happenstances that shaped the Nigerian musical landscape in 2010.
MARRIAGES

Dr. SID ft K-Switch - Over The Moon (Video)

Rapper turned pop singer, Dr SID of Mo'Hits is out with the video of his monster hit 'Over the moon' ft K-Switch off the multiple hits studded album, 'Turning Point'. Turning Point contained hits like Winchi winchi and Pop something for those that have forgotten.
An interesting plot, superb shots and with beautiful Tiwa Savage as guest video girl, not forgetting Dj Tee the veteran video director behind the camera, it couldn't get more intriguing.
Enjoy!

New Video: Ruggedman ft. Ice Prince - She N My Swagger

Yes! Finally a video from the 'Untouchable album' by Ruggedman which is rumoured to be his last L.P before he hangs his music boot. Ruggedy Baba delivers once again on the joint 'She n my swagger' and with a Choc Boy on your track, you can hardly go wrong. Good quality video as well.
I know the old adage goes, 'take a bow when the ovation is loudest' but is it really time 4 him to leave?
Enjoy!

VIDEO: Sheyman – Ma Nae

Kennis music recording artiste, Sheyman is out with the video of 'Ma Nae' off the album 'King of Melody'. Sheyman is the same artiste that gave us the all star tribute to Da Grin tittled 'Feel my pain'.
Ma Nae is a dance track and like he said "...i made this song for the club", it has that thing to make you want to bounce. Good video as well.

SHOW YA SELF - PASTOR J FEAT MISS CAROLINE

Here is a fresh Video from Pastor J (Jimmy Odukoya) and Ms. Caroline (Tolu Odukoya) Kids of the late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya. I like the tune of the song but most importantly, the message of the song; redirecting the focus, praise and attention back to God. This is also a DJ Tee production, actually the cleanest video he has – as in quality in my opinion. The video is already getting criticized for been too flashy (for a “Christian song” I guess??). People let’s stick to the message okay!!! Enjoy!!

Weird MC Jehovah Da Paper Song ft SWITCH

First I want to say am not a huge fan of Weird Mc, you can say I used to sound like the voice in the intro of this song but after I watched the first 45secs of this video, the words that came out of my mouth was, "I love this song". Weird Mc shows why she's a veteran in the game. Good concept, a more matured lyrics than her previous works (my opinion), quality video and to top it up it is hilariously funny (if there is any phrase like that).
It stares Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st, CFR (Comedian of the Federal Republic), Yinka Davies, Switch and Koffi.(...how on earth did she put them 2gether?)

Video: Mallam Spicey – Free Cure (Terry G Diss)

Beef is no longer new to the Nigerian music industry as we've seen Ruggedman vs Eedris, Maintain and Rasque; Modenine and 9ice take on Ruggedman and we even saw clips of a proposed video from 9ice that was never released; Kelly Hansome vs MI & Mohit, the list goes on.
Late last year Mallam Spicy came out with a joint using Terry G's beat to lash on the Spiritual Madman after Terry G had earlier dropped a line in his song that goes "....me I no be Mallam Spicy, me i no dey stop for the 4th bar never". The genesis of their beef is what i cant really tell but Mallam Spicy is making the most of it as he drops this video and worst off is that he is using Terry G's famous Free Madness beat. He calls it Free Cure.
 "....Dem don dey madt abi?"

Paper Rounds: Top 10 Videos with Special Effects in 2010 by Dj Teaser

Usually at the end of every year, several reviews, analysis, top 5, top 10, top 20 even top 100 lists are released by different players in the Nigerian music industry on different topics. So like you already know its that time of the year again and the Teasertube team is out with the Top 10 Nigerian videos with special effects.
The act of using special effect is not entirely new to the industry, last year MI's Safe, Hman's Ndoli Ndoli, Dipp's Dangerous were among the videos that had mind blowing effects. This year saw an increase in the number of special effect video being released.
The criteria for the selection is first and foremost visual effects, so many quality videos released this year didn't make the list.

Ruggedman’s Untouchable skit takes a jab at Modenine

Ruggedman is not resting on his situation with Mode9 as he took a jab at Modenine in his recently released album Untouchable. He cut a skit directed at his arch enemy Modenine. The rapper is apparently not just addressing the situation with 9ice over Toni Payne. In the comical skit he took a swipe ending with a character, presumably Modenine calling out to a commercial motocyclist after a braggadious ‘i’m realer than you’. The number 8 track is titled hypo skit.  Modenine gets a reason to release a follow up, should Death blow part 2 be expected?
Listen to the skit below.

FOLLOW ME- DOKTA FRABZ FEAT eLDee & SHANK

The man behind so many party jams is finally stepping up to the mic in 2011. For those that don't know, he was responsible for several hits from Omawumi, was also featured by Beazy few weeks ago on 'Over and over' that was previously posted on this site.
As part of his singing plans he has released a new single titled Follow Me feat eLDee and Shank. Am not even going to front, this song is a tune utunu! Trust us when we say you should put this on repeat utunu!.
The Frabzinator is in the building

Duncan Mighty - Ahamefulla (Official Video)

Finally Duncan Mighty drops a video of Ahamefulla off "Legacy"; one of the dopest album of 2010 (Quote me!). Now his numerous fans can put a face to the dancehall king that has brought them hits after hits.
A solid video in my opinion.

Ovation is back with their christmas allstars roll call (i don't mean it literally). This time new faces with some familiar ones where in the booth to do the 'Christmas is green' song. New Videos from Tosin Martins: Silent Night + Na You

Renowned gospel crooner and Glo Naija Sings 2019 judge, Tosin Martins is out with two hot videos. Storm is definitely in the building.
Silent night is an Afrobeat gospel joint that would get you nodding right from the start. tosin goes on to deliver sense-making verses as he has always done. I love the childhood play routine he brought at the end. Lovely!

On 'Na you' he talks about what we have come to know him with, love and wedding, I mean who would forget the smashing hit, 'olo mi' in a hurry. Nice video by Bobby Boulders with special appearance by Obi Asika, Storms boss. Enjoy the video

World premier: Kelly Hansome – Watch Your Mouth ft. Kaution

Brand new joint from our king of controversy Kelly Hansome, but did you actually think that Kelly Hansome was going to let MI go away with his reply without saying something? I didnt think so... or is he actually addressing someone else on this track? (Make your own conclusions and spread the rumour)
He features Kaution on this, and the texas based rapper adds some hot spice to the track. The joint is nice. Check it out.
(Shout out to jaguda for this one)

A-Q official debut record launch review.

Controversial and Imperial lyricist launched his official debut album titled 'Past, Present and Future' at a club party held at upscale bar and lounge Club Karma on December 4. History was made as Controversial and Imperial lyricist, A-Q beyond launching his official debut record brought the mainstream music audience with the appearance and performance from star artistes including a launch with a thousand copies of the limited edition jewel case CD of the album as the first debutant and rap artiste to break such a feat.
The night of energetic music included performances from DJ Zeez, Skuki, Iceberg slim, Side one, Pope, Eva, Mtrill, Rico white and the host rapper AQ.
A black carpet and paparazzi session that lasted two hours was graced by celebrity photographer Kelechi Amadi, South African star model popularly known as Cod Read and Rooftop MCs, to mention a few.
Here is the video of 'Names' by AQ ft Xtrim off the album

W4 returns with new single, 'Kontrol'

Wa Gba Kontrol! Thats the major catch phrase  off the new single coming from one of naija’s most underrated R&B acts – W4. This dude deserves much more hype than he’s  getting having worked with the likes of Sound SultanTuFace Idibia and 9ice. I’m personally rating this 7.5, listen up to “Kontrol” and drop your comments! Is it deserved? Enjoy!

New Video: GT The Guitarman - Kinimatise

GT The Guitarman has finally dropped the video of 'Kinimatise', a single that has been out for a while.
The babyface sensation that was signed into Storm360 for a couple of years was reported to be unhappy with the way the label was handling his deal so he parted ways with the music giants.

Show Dem Camp - Farabale ft MayD(Official Video)

Show Dem Camp is out with the video of Farabale off their 'Dreamer's Project album'. The joint that has made on the hook Ghostman and Tech (SDC) spit fire on the verses. for me SDC is the best and most consistent rap group in Naija at the moment.

Beautiful video.Enjoy...

Darey - Ba Ni Kidi (Lyrics Video) + Sisi Eko

Here are the latest efforts by Darey, arguably the most consistent classic singer (my opinion), 'Sisi Eko' is a mellow feel cool RnB track while 'Ba Ni Kidi' (done in hausa accent) has a house music feel. Cant stop laughing! (The clubs definitely have got a new hit)
Enjoy!

Sisi Eko - Darey

Ruggedman Drops Album! + 'Because of You' ft MI and 2face

Ruggedman dropped his album, 'Untouchable' on Nov 24th, and although it flew under the radar of the massive hype from MI’s album, I still heard it was a pretty solid effort. The whole issue with 9ice/Toni Payne has been a very big distraction but he still put 2gether put together this massive Album that features an eye-bulging list of artist; 2face, P-Square, MI, Ice Prince, Da Grin, Flavour and a host of others
Check out 'Beacause of you' ft MI & 2face below, Rugged goes strong as usual and MI definitely spit life outa the track. it is one to put on repeat.

'Because of you' - Ruggedman ft 2face and MI

Which is the way - Dipp

It is Dipp once again felas! After what I call the most perfect Visual Effect video of the year "Pop off Selecter", Dipp is back on your screen with yet another video. This time its for 'Which is the way' a more concious tune that gets you nodding to facts about living.

"...which is the way,the price of true love dwells in your riches;  the deeper you pocket, the finer your Chick is..."...lol.

Pictures from the Hennessy Artistry Halo Concert 2010.

The Hennessy Artistry Halo Concert 2010 was held at the GET Arena on November 27th for. Excitement, elation, fun and pleasure are some modest words that describe the experience of the night.
From the red carpet where celebrities like Olu Maintain, Caroline Ekanem, Olisa Adibua and DJ Humility strutted, to the stellar performances by living legend, Sir Shina Peters, Nneka, MI, Ice Prince and Bez, the Hennessy Halo Concert stands out as an event with exceptionally well-thought planning. Andre Blaze was the MC and with Choc Boiz in the house, the event could be nothing short of a bumper pack.

Wizkid Drops New Single - Don't Dull

Ayodeji Balogun a.k.a Wizkid kicked off his singing career as early as 11 when he recorded his first song with one of Nigeria’s celebrated music icons, OJB Jezreel. He went on to record a 7-track album, which he released in his church in Lagos, under the name of Lil’ Prinz; this was just a stint that earned him a remarkable deal of encouragement and recognition from family, his church and other artistes.

Years later in 2006, with a new name, which he picked up from a very funny incident, Wizkid got into the studio to record again; this time with HMan (OJB’s younger brother) and Ugly on a song titled ‘Naija Boy’, produced by OJB Jezreel. From that time, he continued to hone his singing skills with influences from OJB Jezreel, Ruffman, Naeto C, Ikechukwu and many others.

The 19 year old’s collaboration with M.I on “Fast Money, Fast Cars” on the Talk About It album, drew a lot of attention to his distinct voice and singing style.
He is currently signed to Banky W’s label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) and has dropped a number of singles including hits like 'Gidi girl' and 'Holla at your boy'.
(Credits to http://www.olamildentertainment.com for this one).

'Dont dull' is his current single (produced by Samklef) and an album is said to be coming in 2011.

Yung6ix kills Oleku!

Ice Prince’s Oleku is undoubtedly the single of the year. We’ve heard lots of remixes, yung6ix’ warri version will crack yo ribs.

Yung ’9ja Carter’ Six a.k.a Sixty, was born Onome Onokokwomo JULY 8TH 1989 in the heartland of Southern Nigeria. Though born to the upper echelons of society, he embraced the streets of Wafftown, and was raised by music. Always a musically gifted mind, Yung Six picked up the mic at a very young age. Studying the rap skills of the greatest mc’s, he created a pattern of flows so uniquely distinct that they can never be replicated. He draws his inspiration from his surrounding, and also from diverse collection of genres.
While in high school, and after a series of successful rap battles, Yung Six hooked up with a duo of like minded artists, and G-squad was formed. The group went on to win a plethora of talent shows in and around the south, garnering an ever increasing fan base.
Yung6ix - Oleku the Warri Version/South shout to 411 management lol…kid’s on fireeeeeeeee!!
After high school he directed his talents into pursuing a solo career and has recorded over 30 SONGS, not including numerous features, that got him Recognitionand the acronym “King of the South.” The future knows no bounds for this Nigerian emigma.
